Outdoor Living Consultation

A yard you use.
Not just one you maintain.

A 90-minute walkthrough of your outdoor space. You leave with a written Outdoor Living Plan — zones, planting, lighting, privacy, and what to do first.

Why Start Here

Most yards get
mowed and watered.
Not lived in.

A yard usually ends up as a series of unrelated decisions made years apart. A patio where the door happened to be, a bed along the fence, a grill wherever there was room. Each one made sense on its own. Together they don't add up to somewhere you want to sit.

Britten works from the landscape and planting side, with seasons of hands-on install work behind the design training. She knows what actually survives in this soil, this light and this climate, which is a different question from what looks good on a plan.

Brandon handles the built side — decks, patios, structures, grading, outdoor lighting and power, and what it realistically takes to get any of it done.

Between the two, the plan covers what grows and what gets built, and treats them as one space rather than two trades.

The Visit

One visit.
One written
plan.

This is a paid, on-site visit, not a sales call. Here's exactly what it includes.

Late fall through early spring is the best time to do this. It gives you the whole planning window before the season starts, and the good crews book up early.

i.

We walk the property

Sun and shade through the day, drainage, slope, what's thriving and what's struggling, and how you currently move through the space.

ii.

We work out how you want to use it

Where people gather, where you'd eat, where the kids and dogs go, what needs privacy or shade, and what you want to see from inside the house.

iii.

You get a written plan

Within 3 business days: activity zones, layout, planting direction suited to your conditions, lighting, privacy and shade, structures worth building, and what to phase in what order.

Investment

Simple, upfront pricing.

On-Site Visit

Outdoor Living Consultation

$300 90 minutes on site

  • Walkthrough of the full property
  • Written Outdoor Living Plan within 3 business days
  • Planting direction matched to your actual soil, light and drainage
  • Zones, phasing, and what to do first

Time beyond 90 minutes is billed at $200 per hour, the same rate. Anything further is quoted and agreed before we start.

After the visit

The plan is yours. Take it to any landscaper or builder and have them work from it. Nothing further is required.

If you'd rather not carry it alone, these are quoted separately once you've seen the plan:

  • Detailed planting plans and layout drawings
  • 3D visualization of the proposed space
  • Outdoor lighting design
  • Structure design — decks, pergolas, screens, built-in seating
  • Referrals to landscapers, masons, deck builders and electricians

We have referral arrangements with some of the partners we recommend. We'll always tell you when that's the case, and we recommend the one that fits your project rather than the one that pays us.

Common Questions

Straight answers,
before you book.

Is this landscape design?

It's broader than that. Landscape and planting are a large part of it, but so are patios, decks, lighting, privacy, and how the outdoors connects back to the house.

Do you do the installation?

No. The plan goes to a landscaper or builder. We can recommend people we trust and stay involved to keep the vision intact through the work.

What about vegetable gardens and raised beds?

Yes. Growing space is treated like any other zone — it needs the right light, the right access, and a place in the layout that makes you actually use it.

When is the best time to book?

Late fall through early spring. Planning in the off-season means you're ready when the crews are, rather than waiting behind everyone who called in May.

We only care about one part of the yard. Is that enough?

That's fine. We'll still walk the whole property, because how one area works usually depends on what's around it, but the plan can focus wherever you want it to.
